Located at Palm Island Resort on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast. No bridges or causeways to the island exist, which ensures a relaxed, tropical vacation setting.

  October is a great time to stay as there are few people around. Enjoy driving the golf cart instead of my car. However for us 3 days is enough since all there is to do is walk the beach, swim in the pool or relax in the condo. The one restaurant is very good, otherwise you will have to take the ferry and drive about 15 minutes to other restaurants in the Englewood area.you receive one free ferry ride per day. This is our third year staying here and will come back again.

  No doubt Plam Island is both an enjoyable experience and also one the traveler needs to be better prepared to what to expect. We travel from California to attend a friend's wedding (on the beach) recently. What we didn't expect was the challenge of flying cross country and getting a rental car and then driving to get to the barge by a certain cut off time in order to get to the island by 10:00 PM to secure our room. We also didn't know the rental office closes at 8:00 PM and the phone #s provided after that time to reach a real person just go to voice mail. That we didn't know and it caused incredible stress to reach the barge before the last one left for the night.
  
  The resort has to do a better job of having a "plan B" for guests who miss these deadlines thru no fault of their own. So for the logistics of the resort, of what to expect, what to know, what to take ( there is no food availeble on the island if you arrive late) the grade is D+
  
  However, once you get there and settle in the experience is a good one. A good place to unwind, read a novel or even write one.
  
  So to the traveler who comes expecting a "full resort experience" beware. For the traveler knowing what to expect "enjoy."

  We've been coming to Palm Island for about 15 years now. Since the kids "grew up" and their grandparents have "moved on" (who used to come too), we have made Palm Island our annual November Wedding Anniversary trip for quite a few years now, and we added an extra day for this trip and stayed 5. The weather was absolutely awesome - not too hot, not too cool, just right. And even though the fishing was not good due to recent and slightly lingering red tide, we had a great time. Unit 3221 which we had never stayed in before was super nice - wanted for absolutely nothing. Can't wait till next November to come back (if not sooner).

  The villa we stayed in was exactly as shown on the website-no bait and switch here at all. Super clean, nicely decorated, comfortable- there was really nothing we needed that we didn't have in regards to utensils, linens, and toiletries. The staff at Palm Island Resort was friendly and very helpful. I cannot say enough about Lisa, who exceeded my expectations regarding setting us up for a day of paddle-boarding! The beaches were clean, the water beautiful (especially at the north pass). The beach chairs did seem to be in need of repair and there did not appear to be a great many of them, but we made due on our own. Overall, it was a wonderful 4 days and we plan to return.

  The trip to Palm Island Resort was the most nerve racking part. Why you say your resort is in Placida, FL, is anyone's guess. The unit we stayed in was clean and well maintained. The sofa bed was typical of sofa beds, ie, hard and uncomfortable. The roads were in need of repair, but not unusable. The resort staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The beaches were beautiful and serene. In all a very pleasant experience.

  First, let me begin with saying that we had a fantastic time and will definitely return. Just a few things...The staff, although friendly, didn't seem to explain things well as far as what time the water taxi stopped running, where to bring cart at checkout, etc. We did have an issue with Addis on the ferry that takes the cars over to the island from the mainland, and our Seafood dinner that came with our package was horrible! We ended up throwing it away. The lobster was probably the only edible item in the basket, and just barely so. It seemed like the seafood had been sitting in the refridgerator for 3 days. Was rubbery and tasted funny. The wine was also horrible and we ended up throwing that away as well. Besides those few items, everything was perfect!

  We've been to PI tons over the last 14 yrs. and loved all of the past trips. This one was a little off for a couple of reasons. First, I thought we were getting an upgraded room and it wasn't. The pullout bed/couch was dingy and not much of a bed at all. In the middle of the night our daughter woke up screaming b/c a large cockroach ran across her arm and then back into the bed, so neither girl would sleep on the pullout the rest of the trip. Our bed was already uncomfortable to begin with, let alone with 2 extra bodies.
  Last, the only way we were able to come on this trip was that a family member sent us the money for the Living Social deal. Money has been too tight the last 2 yrs and we haven't vacationed at all. we planned on eating in our room and when the power went out on Sunday night it forced us to go to Leverocks. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but on our budget it is!! My husband is in the process of getting a new job which would allow us to vacation on Palm Island like we use to, but until then we need to conserve. Having said all of this, I do want to complement one of your employees. Travis was very friendly and even though he couldn't get us in an upgraded room, he still went out of his way to make me happy!! I was very impressed.   My husband and I stayed for 7 days on the Island. We originally book our stay on the Marina and spent 1 night there. The following morning we realized we wanted to be closer to the ocean and when we call the reservation office they were very accomodating and allowed us to change our arrangements and that was the best decision we made. We enjoyed the peaceful and secluded location. The view from our beach villa was awesome. The staff was excellent.

  The resort was so peaceful. I walked on the beach several times without another soul, as far as I could see. I felt very safe everywhere on the island. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food at Rum Bay was quite good - and the pricing was reasonable - they do not take advantage of the fact that they do have the monolopy :-). They still endeavor to give great service! The only things that bugged me a little were that in the resort directory left for us in the unit, the phone numbers for all of the departments were listed without area code.
  I had to dig around to find something that listed the area code before I could call for what I needed. Also, the bigger issue is that there does not seem to be great insulation between units. Our neighbors were not rowdy, but ordinary noises traveled too much, and woke me both mornings. We could hear a lot -- the TV, voices, doors closing, etc. I wanted to sleep in, so I was disappointed when the neighbor's churning washing machine woke me at 8 am. But overall, the trip was wonderful!

  WE ALWAYS VACATION THE 2ND WEEK IN DECEMBER, THE RATES ARE LOW AND MOST RESORTS ARE NOT VERY CROWDED. I READ ABOUT PALM ISLAND AND DECIDED TO GIVE IT A TRY. THE BEACHES ARE BEAUTIFUL ALTHOUGH KIND OF A LONG HIKE FROM THE ROOM. THE VIEWS ARE BEAUTIFUL. THE STAFF VERY FRIENDLY. IF YOU WANT A QUIET, RELAXING TRIP THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR TO GO. WE WERE ALMOST ALWAYS THE ONLY ONES ON THE BEACH. I DO RECOMMEND RENTING THE GOLF CART TO GET AROUND THE ISLAND. YOU ARE ONLY GIVEN ONE ROUND TRIP ON THE FERRY WITH YOUR BOOKING AND THE CHARGE IS NORMALLY OVER $50, I ASK FOR EXTRA TRIPS AND THEY GAVE ME, SO BE SURE TO ASK. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THE WATER TAXI RIDE TO LEVEROCKS, THE FOOD IS NOT GOOD. THE FOOD, SERVICE AND DRINKS AT RUM BAY ON THE ISLAND IS THE WAY TO GO. STOP AT THE GROCERY BEFORE GOING TO THE ISLAND. IF YOU NEED TO ACCESS INTERNET, TAKE YOUR OWN COMPUTER-THERE IS NOT ONE AVAILABLE ALTHOUGH THEY WILL PRINT BOARDING PASSES FOR YOU. I HAD ASK FOR A LOWER LEVEL ROOM SO THAT IS WHY WE WERE ON THE TOP FLOOR. THE KITCHEN WAS WELL EQUIPED FOR ANYTHING WE MIGHT NEED TO COOK, TAKE YOUR OWN COFFEE. I WAS VERY HAPPY AND WOULD GO THERE AGAIN.

  My husband and I went to the resort for an anniversary getaway. We did the couples getaway package. It was wonderful. The villa we stayed in was tastefully decorated and spotless. we had a bike rental for the two days we were there and that was a great idea. We could bike all over the island and get exercise while exploring. The picnic that was provided as part of the package was a great addition to the trip. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We took long walks on the beach and found incredible shells and a lot of sharks teeth. I would highly recommend visiting Palm Island to anyone looking for a nice and relaxing vacation.
