Located at Palm Island Resort on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast. No bridges or causeways to the island exist, which ensures a relaxed, tropical vacation setting.
The island resort encompasses a two-mile portion of private, pristine beaches on the northern end of Palm Island.
Guests travel to the island via car ferry and park their car in our island parking area. Transportation is provided by our bell staff and golf carts are also available for rent for registered guests.

  Palm Island Resort was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Quiet, uncrowded and beautiful. Unit A3311A was clean and comfortable. The deck offers a great view of the ocean. The beach was phenomenal. Nobody was out there! My wife ran every morning and found lots of shells. I fly fished from the beach and caught snook everyday. The staff at Palm Island were very helpful and polite. Rumbay offers a wide variety of dishes and the food was excellent. We will be back!

  We stayed at the resort for several days for a wedding. The staff was friendly and the property well maintained. The kitchen well equipped, had a filter coffee pot. Take beach towels. No cleaning products except paper towels. Our unit had a great view of the pool and a little bit of the ocean which a short walk away. A golf cart is a must.

Water damage to the wall in the bathroom from the shower and there was water running down the kitchen wall from the fire alarm. Bed was like sleeping on concrete. Chairs and couch felt like the springs were about to pop thru the fabric. We upgraded to the premium condo so this was disappointing.

  The unit (3311):
  
  The Good:
  * Nice view of the gulf.
  * Good size kitchen for two of us. It was adequately stocked and had a new coffee maker.
  * AC kept the unit comfortable and had no problem cooling it down during the hot days.
  * Unit was clean and appeared to be freshly painted.
  * King size bed.
  * Nice size walk in shower.
  
  Just ok:
  * The AC had a strong musty/moldy odor for the first hour. We opened up and let a lot of fresh air in while it ran. All good after that.
  * The balcony looks out to the water BUT the adjacent unit has a balcony that has a line of sight with this one. The neighbors were a bit drunk and loud and were in our line of sight. Not ideal.
  * The neighbor above needed to get up each night around 3:00 AM and we could hear her walking across the floor. The wood floors separating the unit above is not well insulated for noise. Not a huge issue during the day but less ideal at night.
  
  All in all we had a great time and would stay here again.

But we needed tow visits from maintenance to replace battery in thermostat and put shower doors back on tracks. Maintenance man arrived promptly and took care of issues quickly and politely.   The accommodations were great. The Rum Bay restaurant prices were very reasonable and the food was very good. Our only complaint, and it's a major one, is the Coconuts convenience store. They are, I believe, price gouging. Consider a quart of milk there cost almost $5.00. Also the cost of the cart rental is too high considering the condition of the carts. The cart that we rented, which replaced the first cart they gave us which wouldn't always go into gear, was well used and in need of repair.

  Palm Island is our favorite vacation spot in the world. We have been regulars here for over 13 years. (We may even buy soon). We have been to almost every famous or popular beach in the world, and Palm Island is simply the best beach in the world. Great shelling and wildlife watching and perfect for long walks - extremely quiet, peaceful, and private. The resort staff is excellent. The only issue we had this time was that our unit was an old one that could use some updates. Many of the appliances are old and don't work properly - the dryer lint basket would pop out during the cycle if you used regular heat, and the fridge light blinked like a horror movie. The resort property is in great shape. It was just our unit that needs some attention.

  My husband and I joined our best man of 50 years ago and his wife on Palm Island to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first time on Palm Island; the other couple has been vacationing there for 26+ years. And now we know why they keep coming back!
  We had a perfectly wonderful five days. The condo was great, and we loved the screened lanai. We spent time in the beautiful, warm pool every day, walked the beaches looking for shells and sharks' teeth, buzzed around on the golf carts and, coming from chilly Wisconsin, soaked up the sunshine.
  Each staff person we met was a delight and welcomed us with smiles and a great sense of humor. We even found a beautiful gift basket on the table with wine, chocolates, and a personal card wishing us a happy 50th anniversary. That was over the top!
  We're already planning a return trip next year. Thank you so much for a perfect celebration.

  Our vacation was amazing, besides the weather not totally behaving but that's Mother Nature for you. One of our only complaints is that we asked for a place without rugs because my guest and I both have allergies and were promised our unit had tiles. And the other complaint was that our AC broke for an entire day but didn't really notice until after dinner when we called the after hours manager. He was very rude to me and didn't even want to come out to look at problem to see if it was a quick fix or not and we had to sleep in 86 degrees weather inside the villa and in April. I can't imagine what it would of been like if it happened in another month like June, July or August. Yes we were credited back $200 so that helped a little but not much because we were already happy happy with the price we were not happy at all with the ac breaking and them not coming to look at it. Even at a hotel they would of come out to try to fix it, especially staying at a luxury resort.

  We liked the experience so well, we have booked a week again next year. First of all you ride a 8 car ferry across ~300 yards of water to Palm Island. You then drive a little over a mile to the resort parking lot.
  Upon check in, a large golf cart a drive comes to your vehicle and loads your luggage and you for the drive to your Villa, NO CARS are allowed inside the resort. Once at your Villa your driver unloads and carries your baggage inside. You can rent a golf cart or bike to get around if you don't want to walk. There is a restaurant and a snack shop a short distance away. The Gulf is only a couple hundred yards away and beautiful. A swimming pool is located in between. There is all kinds of activities if you just don't want to do nothing but relax. The staff are all just great, wanting to make you as happy as possible. To sum it up in one word--- WOW!!!!!

The staff did a terrific job helping me put the trip together and once we arrived the staff went out of their way to make our stay most enjoyable.

  Coming to Palm Island for a week was the best week of the year! From the moment we checked in we were treated like VIP guests. A wonderful young man carried all of our luggage, groceries, etc. up the stairs and then was their for us when we left. We ate every night at Rum Bay and met Diane the best waitress ever. Our room was very nice with a perfect view of the pool and the Gulf. I love shelling, my husband loves swimming in the Gulf and we both look forward every day to going to Stump Pass to watch the sun set.
  Our stay was five stars in every way!!! We'll be back next summer for our fifth time, that should tell you how much we love P I.

  Palm Island is best enjoyed if you're ready to relax. Leave your shoes at the door and plan on spending the day at the beach and pool. The beach has terrific white sand and usually very few other people. The pool was clean and again most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. A great place for couples or families, especially if you do not need to leave the island for other entertainment. Renting a golf cart makes it easy to get around the property, and see everything. Sunsets on the beach are spectacular!

  Overall we were happy with our stay at Palm Island Resort. We received a call before our arrival telling us we were being upgrade to a deluxe unit.
  The unit 3311 needs maintenance in the bathroom. The linens on the bed are in poor shape. The coverlet has loose nylon strings that get caught on your hands when making the bed. In the kitchen, the utensils were lacking......not enough grilling utensils, bowls, etc.
  Woodwork throughout needs scraping and painting as it was blistering.
  Would not want to rent this unit in this condition next year.
  The food at Rum Bay and service was very good as was the value.
  Hopefully, we will return again.

  We only stayed one night but it was nice and easy to do. Checking in and out was a little time consuming. Getting one person thru the process takes sometime so you better hope you aren't the 2nd in line. Need to have the ability to check in early. You can get there in the morning and you won't get into your room until 3 pm. 11 am checkout is too early and you should have a late check out also. Should be able to have resort hold your bags also. Restrurant and bar are awesome. Coconuts breakfast will make you sick. Golf cart rental is iffy. They say you can't take carts off the island but i saw more rental carts off the resort than i saw on it.

  We try to get to Palm Island at least twice a year. I always feel like crying when I know I have to leave and go back to crowds and traffic. Rum bay restaurant had great seafood and wonderful service (Debbie and Dustin(or Justin?). Marty at the front desk was very professional despite the fact that she was very busy. Not all units are completely updated, but it's ok, they are spotless and have everything you need. Will be back in a few months!

  I found this resort through Groupon;I've lived here 22 years and never heard of it so thought we would give it a try. I did research it on the internet prior to booking. This was an awesome experience,great anniversary getaway and would think about returning.That said,I do not feel that some information was explained enough on the website or when I called for information prior to booking.We were aware of the ferry but not aware that we had to leave our vehicle parked in a lot and would need to use a golf cart the entire time. Both of those items were covered in the Groupon price(golf cart/ferry)and was not aware until after the fact that the normal reservation would not have included those in their price. I was shocked. I just think it should have been stressed more when calling for rental information because neither are cheap by any means. If I were to return/recommend this I would certainly make a friend aware;also if I would return again,I would definitely have enough food for my entire stay so I would not have to frequent the ferry because of the price. Again,we loved the resort and everything about it

We have stayed on the island 3 times for the weekend since September in different villa and have been pleased each time, feeling a million miles away from home. Everyone is kind and helpful. We especially appreciate the fact that when possible, you let us check in early to begin to enjoy our weekend getaway as soon as we get here if the room is eready.   I only had two issues with my stay: 1. I did not get sufficient information about the ferry use. I did not know I could take my car on the ferry at no cost so I had to leave it on the mainland and have a bellman pick us up. And 2. when my grandchildren used the kayacs there was no training involved at all. They were given life jackets and told where the kayacs were. The kayacs were in disrepair and they encountered something large int he water and were scared to death and returned after only 15 minutes. There should be some instruction on how to use the kayacs and what they may encounter on their trip. Other than those two items, we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and will come back and stay a few more days next time. The sunset was incredible.

  Terrific beach for shelling and fossils. Sharks teeth are everywhere along with lots of great shells. It doesn't get a lot better than Palm Island. The room was very nice and quite comfortable. It had everything we needed, and the staff was very helpful. The only area for improvement was the seafood in the restaurant. Otherwise the food was fine. We will be back.
