Stay at Palm Island Resort, located on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast, is the state’s only true-out island resort. No bridges or causeways to the island exsist, which ensures a relaxed, tropical vacation setting. The island resort encompasses a two-mile portion of private, pristine beaches on the northern end of Palm Island. Guests travel to the island via car ferry and park their car in our island parking area. Transportation is provided by our bell staff and golf carts are also available for rent for registered guests.

  We loved our stay at Palm Island. The pictures we saw on the site are accurate! Our unit faced the gulf, offering a tranquil view of the pearl-white sand and light green water. The furnishings were in good condition. The bed was comfortable. The grounds at PIR were very well-maintained, as are the tennis courts and pools. Next time we will take more groceries and prepare dinner in the unit, as there is only one restaurant on the island. We didn't need a golf cart, as our unit was centrally located and we like to walk. But most people seemed to use them. The quick ferry ride adds to the charm. Everyone we met was very friendly. We are looking forward to our next visit.

  My husband and I came from Oklahoma on our 25th anniversary celebration and we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place to vacation! This island was beautiful, the staff were friendly and helpful, the pool area was amazing and the beach was just what I was hoping for. I came to find shells and I found plenty. We ate at the Rum Bay Restaurant most evenings and the full kitchen was great for the groceries we brought to the island. If you tend to get cold easily, bring a sweater or jacket for the cooler weather and maybe a raincoat if rain is in the forecast. We made our visit in November but it was still gorgeous until the sunset or if it was overcast, then it would be a bit chilly for me, but I am cold natured. We plan to come back in the summer with the whole family! We had a great time!

  Great rental unit. The only one bedroom standard and it’s in good shape. I can see it will need some sprucing up eventually (carpet) but we love this unit and plan our visits for when this one is available.

  Great villa. It has everything you need and is in decent shape for a standard unit, and also has Wi-fi (which many units do not have). The owners also have a little book on the table with recommendations etc. which is nice). There was a little bit of red tide in the air this visit (which we have encountered several times now in the past 2 years - unfortunately it does make a difference so we always check mote marine before we book but sometimes it's on certain sections of the beach anyway). Watch for the new resort fee they started assessing a few months ago - very annoying.

  The resort is perfect for a relaxing getaway. The beach was very natural and preserved. We walked for miles and only saw two people. We saw tons of crabs, stingrays, dolphins, turtles, shells.... We did venture off the island for dinner at Farlows on the Water (fabulous) and a night at the White Elephant (go on karaoke night!!!). Bring bug spray for the mosquitoes. Since the island is preserved with a lot of green space the mosquitoes can be bothersome. I got Off forest dry spray and it worked great.

  Our stay at the resort was fine. It is a beautiful area and super quiet! For some reason We were charged an additional fee of $55.35 (resort said it was not them) to my debit card. Still need investigating when I return home. Must be a hidden fee from Home Away. The resort is beautiful, but I would not stay in that unit. The condo unit needs attention! We would go back just not to that condo unit. Talking to other guests their condo unit was in good condition with no issues. The resort staff was great!

  My boyfriend and I loved the resort. The atmosphere was quaint and very laid back. We particularly loved riding around on the golf cart and spending time on the beach at Stump Pass. My only problem with my stay was the particular villa that we stayed in. I do realize that I requested a standard unit, but it was completely outdated and didn't have a clean feeling. The air conditioner was not working all that great either. We were there for a wedding, so I was able to see multiple other villas. Our villa was nowhere close to being as nice. I will recommend Palm Island Resort to my friends, just not that particular villa.

  We enjoyed our two night stay at the resort so much. From the informative welcome at the Reception to the friendly check-out, it was lovely. The reseort is beautiful, quiet, peaceful -- and manages to be upscale without being stuffy or intimidating. We had a great view and comfortable accommodations. Our unit, and I realize they are all different owners and decor, was nice. My ony suggestion would be that the chairs on the balcony are in need of replacement.
  The beach was wonderful -- just what you dream of. I went to yoga (the instructor is wonderful and lovely) and we went to a nature walk/talk that was offered mid-day too which was also great and educational and fun. The restaurant was "just right" and offered many choices.
  We took the water taxi to the mainland one night to the other restaurant which was also nice, but a bit more crowded. Be careful to communicate clearly with the boat taxi about when you want to return (we had a near miss due to communications, but made it fine).

  Stayed in room 3524. It was very tidy and stocked with all the necessary amenities. One thing I will say is that the furniture and fixtures seemed very old, like they haven't been upgraded since the 90's. This place is great to stay if all you want to do is relax and not do much other than go to the beach. I liked their on-site restaurant and bar and complimentary water taxi to their other restaurant off the island. The staff was friendly and nice, always available to help with whatever we needed.

  We made Palm Island Villa our home away from home for a week in a comfortable one bedroom villa. We were on the 2nd floor and could see the ocean and sunsets from our lanai or living room window. Whether walking, riding bikes or golf cart, you can take a peaceful walk all through the resort. No cars are allowed beyond the registration station. Gathering shells and walking the beach or island paths occupied much of our time, but the ride on the water taxi, seeing the egrets nest and dolphin was also enjoyable. All staff we encountered were super helpful and professional. The food, setting and service was great at the Island Bay Rum Restaurant and the mainland restaurant, Leverocks, reached by water taxi. There are many other activities available including tennis, golf, fitness center.

  I have been coming to Palm Island for 20 years. I love this place. I stayed in unit 35-24, first time, and thought it was very nice. I had some difficulties in getting the air conditioner working to an adequate level, 74 degrees, upon check-in. It was only after repeated requests and a demand that the issue be addressed on the night of my check-in that it was. The AC guy came and it took him awhile to find the problem, but he did manage to get the system working to an adequate level.

  We are looking for property on the island and it is so convenient and nice to stay at the resort. Everyone is beyond helpful and friendly and the property and beach is just beautiful. Our only complaint is that the unit we stayed in was in great need of repair. Broken cabinets and old appliances. If they update, it will be perfect. Can't wait to return...thank you.

  We have spent many years looking for REAL Florida. Palm Island is a true resort to escape to starting with a ferry crossing, no traffic and perfect peace and quiet. Traffic is limited to golf carts only. The beach and the gulf are beautiful and the resort is beautifully manicured. Total peace and quiet.

  after a late arrival at 9:15 pm and an understaffed rental car facility at Punta Gorda airport we were rushed to get to palm Island due to the fact the ferry stopped service at 11pm. We arrived right at 11pm and ferried over to the island ,only to find that there were no restaurants open, we got up early to have breakfest in the resort restaurant, they did not open til 11:30 am. But after this rocky start, we found the resort to be absolutely a great, place to relax, with beautiful views and a very nice and clean condo. If youn are looking for a quiet,and almost remote setting, this is the place. The ferry is a very interesting set up. We would definately stay here again, friendly and helpful staff, and great accomadations. Restaurant needs some help.

  Spent a long weekend out at Palm Island and stated in one of the 6-plex Beach Cottages with my Wife. What a great discovery this place was (our 1st visit). Secluded, serene, quiet, relaxing, and beautiful describes the place well. The only knoocks we could even give the stay was the the 1BR unit we stayed in was just a little musty smelling, but otherwise was clean and fully stocked for a families long term use. The restaurant on the Island was reasonable priced and served great meals (we ate there 3 times). The local store is very limited in supplied, but if you pack accordingly, you won't need much that would warrant a trip off of the island. Highly recommend!

  Our room was beautiful and the view was breath taking. I felt your rate for a one night stay was rather high especially since it's not even season yet. We were there for a vow renewal and we spent very little time at the resort. Check in at 3 and out by 11 the next day. It would have been nice to have an earlier check in time so we could have explored the resort and perhaps taken advantage of some of the ammenities.
  We would love to return for a longer period of time but it was just to expensive for us.
  However we will recommend the resort to our friends who come down from Connecticut.

  There couldn't have been a better choice for our 5 year anniversary. My girlfriend stayed at Palm Island Resort when she was a kid, and her grandparents recommended the resort when I had mentioned that I wanted to surprise her with a vacation. We had the Romance Package: consisting of a Lobster Picnic with wine on the beach, Dinner at Leverocks on the mainland, and a golf cart rental for our stay. Watching the beautiful sunset on such an amazing island was definitely the highlight of our vacation. We stayed in a 1 bedroom villa that overlooked the ocean Just minutes away. By far, the best staff of any resort we have been to.

  The reservation reps should adv people how to actually get to the island if bringing boat and that if we choose to use the marina that they close at 5pm. Other than the extra hour and half we took trying to figure out how to take the boat to the island it was a great stay, outstanding view, great staff and just beautiful!

  My wife and I went to the resort for the first time to celebrate our anniversay. The staff was very friendly. The room was extremely clean and well stocked. We had read reveiws about how many shells were on the beach, but no comments can prepare you for how MANY shells there are; so many beautiful colors and kinds that you can literally "hunt" for hours in a 100 yard section. Since cars aren't allowed in the resort it was very quite and slow paced. Would absolutely come back again for a couples weekend but will probably have to bring the kids next time after they saw all of the shells.

  We were very happy with the resort. The resort is laid back and beautiful. The staff was excellent. The only reason there are not all five stars is that the beach was not cleaned up of dead fish. There were quite a few that had been there for some time. That was really the only disappointing thing about the resort!

  The bedroom was hot and did not cool down complelely the first night of our stay. We had to drop the thermostat the to low 70's to keep the bedroom somewhat cool. The unit need some wall repair work around the washer/dryer and paint.
  The dryer did not heat. Not sure if this problem might have been operator error. Palm Island Resort is a unique property. The best combination of beach and number of people I have ever found. We will return! Thank You

  This was our first time at Palm Island Resort. We found the people in the office to be very accommodating...we had a couple little problems and they were taken care of immediately with a really good attitude and response. The unit we were in was very clean but not updated (the furniture was old). We felt that the property was also very well maintained and clean. The ONLY big disappointment was the sheets! They looked like they were homemade...very old and tired! They were limp....... actually "pilled" from too much wear and not even ironed! I requested another set and they were exactly the same! I would love to see you invest in new sheets for the units! Having a good night's sleep on quality sheets would be a treat!

  We had, as usual, a wonderful stay on Palm Island. The only glitch was when the air-conditioning went out in our unit and the indoor temperature shot up. Luckily, there was a place to put us for the night so we traipsed several buildings over in our pajamas and went to sleep. Packing the next morning was brutal with no A/C so we wore bathing suits to get the job done. And will we go back? Absolutely. Even mechanical failure cannot keep us away.
