Located at Palm Island Resort on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast. No bridges or causeways to the island exist, which ensures a relaxed, tropical vacation setting.

  Location was beautiful and so close to every thing.
  The unit itself was alright it just needs some major maintenance/upgrades. The rug in master bedroom needs to be changed and maybe tile replace it. To many spots on rug from other dogs that have stayed there. Also the furniture is in rough shape. But on the positive the view from the back porch was heavenly you could clearly hear the waves!

  As always, the Palm Island experience was outstanding. The pristine beach, the privacy, the beautiful landscaping and the ultimate space to relax never disappoint. The unit was comfortable and allowed for our little dogs who were excited by the surroundings for walks and smells! We would have only a few recommendations: the beds are in need of replacement and are all really soft and sagging. The kitchen supplies need refreshing - there were lots of items missing or in low supply. The sheets: the resort changed to a blend fabric several years ago and they are not comfortable. We stay at least once a year and the beds need the high quality sheets you used to use - high thread count cotton is a big bonus - the blend being used are hot and uncomfortable.
  
  Also great to see Rum Bay back! We are there twice and it was improved even from the April stay.

  We absolutely loved our stay! The Condo was perfect, had everything we needed, clean with beautiful view! The resort has really done a great job after the hurricane damage. The staff was excellant and very accommodating, coffee maker broke, had a new one within 10 mins. We got to explore the island on a golf cart, sat on the beach with no one around, like having your own beach and picked up a bunch of sharks teeth. I highly recommend Palm Island Resort to anyone that wants to relax and get away. Beautiful!!!

  Our rental was very old and needs updating. No hot water at all in 1313 we had to move to another room to shower only. Which we were very happy about. There was a lot of confusion with staff and you can tell they are all stressed out and short handed. But, everyone of them was very nice, accommodating and would do anything to make you feel at home! They all need a raise and praise! I do understand after having a hurricane it’s hard to get back to business! That being said we didn’t mind the other stuff to much because it was still quiet and relaxing with a beautiful view! I know with a group of employees like you have things will be up and running better than ever real soon!

  Everyone from the bell men, check-in staff, golf cart rentals/ Coconuts and restaurant were very friendly, great service and made us feel welcome. When booking the unit in March of 2021 I requested an upgraded unit and the week of our stay in November, we received info about the unit. The unit is very basic and needs updating and refreshing such as fresh paint, new couch and area rug which both are very stained and worn. Bedding set is also very worn. I understand that it is a rental and not everyone takes care of things, but the reviews on this unit have mentioned these items for many years. We always enjoy our stay and will return, but will request another unit. I did request on 3 occasions that a final invoice and receipt be emailed to me. I have not received one.

The unit we stayed in though had sand on bathroom floors, filthy rug with stains, curtains were falling off hooks in family room , extreme dust and dirt on wall air vent and mattresses in both bedrooms very uncomfortable - back pain every am.

  We love Palm Island. My husband has been coming here since he was a kid. With that said, we were a little disappointed. We had a problem with ants. I called and they said maintance would come and they never did. We were there for 4 days. Ants were crawling on our baby bottles and food. We also lost WiFi which also meant no tv. The modem is locked away in a closet so we couldn’t get to it to reset it ourselves. We called the front desk who were suppose to be there until 8 but no one was there. We called the emergency maintenance number and he said someone should be on the island still and that there was nothing he could do. The villa was nice and I would stay there again. Just disappointed in the service.

Inside unit has minor issues: poor mattresses, poor quality shower heads, general clean up of paint and woodwork, bathroom fans very noisy. Landing at stairway to units was muddy, perhaps a larger concrete pad and better drainage in front of stairs.

  Everything was great, except for a few things that need to be fixed. The main thing was the door leading from the master bedroom to the deck, the lock is broke, needs to be fixed or replaced. The biggest problem though was the mosquitos I was bitten so many times that I got a terrible reaction to the bites, I'm now taking perdnisone because I had such a terrible reaction and it's been 9 days. Many other people had the same problem. Palm Island needs to spray or do something to solve this problem.

  We love Palm Island and have been coming on and off for at least 20 years. While the location of the unit was great, beach front and next to the pool, the unit itself needs serious updating. As many reviewers have already noted, the noise from the guests above as they walked was excessive. It sounds like they need to do structural work. There is newer furniture in the dining and living room, but the rest of the unit needs to be updated.

  We chose Palm Island b/c of our past experiences here and we needed a short but relaxing get away with our kids- As always the staff was great especially wit helping us choose our location prior to coming- the unit itself was a perfect location and was updated and very nice. However, the noise the noise from the upstairs unit was almost unbearable at night- It was not that they were doing anything specifically loud but just basic movement up until about midnight was abnormally creaky and made it impossible to sleep in the Master-- It seems like it is an issue with the floor/ceiling itself- Sounds weird but if you are in this unit and the 2nd floor unit is being rented just be aware. Other than that - a perfect time!

  I personally liked the location of this unit. Right next to the pool and also right on the beach. Woke up every morning and sat on the porch with a cup of coffee. We sleep with fans and would have liked the master bedroom fan to be less noisy, but that is minor. The tenant upstairs was limited in their footsteps, but it could be overbearing if there was a large group up there.
  Floor joists are quite noisy as well. Overall, the place was clean, stocked with necessities, and worked well for our family. The resort was awesome.

  I recently enjoyed a week at Palm Island Resort for my daughter's destination wedding. It was great to have family and friends there , but all of us in our separate villas. It was nice to have our privacy and yet be able to share times at the pool, clubhouse and restaurant ( Rum Bay ). The staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved the fact that cars are not allowed in the resort and that pets are allowed in some of the villas. It was a perfect place for her wedding, but we also look forward to returning for future vacations.

  Our family loves Palm Island and this is our 3rd consecutive extended family vacation there. This year we were slightly disappointed with the villa we rented.
  Although we were told the unit had been recently renovated with new living room and dining furniture and tile floors the rest of the unit is in need of renovation. Some of the improvements are not costly. For example, the bedspread, shams and bed skirt are old in both rooms. The hallway bathroom did not have a shower curtain only the liner. The formica on some of the kitchen cabinets is peeling. The bathrooms are very plain with absolutely no decor. My sister-in-law, Ana Prats-Villa rented a similar unit, #1211, paid the exact same rental amount for the week and her unit was exceeding superior. In fact, when we rented the units

  If you really want to get away from it all, this is the place to be! You will have the beach to yourself. The island is very quiet and full of nature. Fishing is great off the north end of the island right off the shore. We caught a lot of huge snook every night! Accommodations are fine, not up scale but fine. The people are super friendly.   This was my 4th stay at Palm Island and I love it every time! The 2 bedroom villa was beautiful, clean, and had all the amenities I could want. The staff is attentive and helpful. The on-staff naturalist Kris is fabulous and the kayak tour was enjoyable, informative, and full of wildlife. Lunch on the deck at Rum Bay Restaurant was delicious. A little bit of construction was going on in an adjacent villa, but I totally understand the need to do this in order to keep the property so beautifully maintained. Even the construction crew was pleasant and apologized if they were disturbing us in any way.

  Had a great time. The ONLY negative we encountered was the new merchandise in the store. The quality and prices could not compare to the previous store. Also, the lady in the store was very curt and rude to our granddaughters. Didn't appreciate that. All the other help at the resort was very courteous and polite. All in all, our stay was wonderful!   My family has been going to PI for 18 years, since my first son was born. It is a rare place where you can totally relax, hang out on pristine uncrowed white sand beaches and find plenty to do for adults and my kids (now 8, 16 and 19) Villas continue to be well-maintained and comfortable. It's so great that my college son flew cross-country from CAL to be able to spend a few days there. This past time we experienced a medical emergency (ashma attack without inhaler with us)on a Sunday night and PI/ferry captain were very helpful and professional, in facilitating our getting to the ER on the mainland and back at 1:30 am. (Yes, all ended well).

  Just a couple of things with this unit. It needs more utensils like a spatula and tongs for the grill. Also the disposal sounds like it's not working well and the fridge didn't get very cold, and the dryer was not great. This unit just needs some updating.

  We have stayed at Palm Island Resort every year for the last 10 years. We truly enjoy being on a barrier island away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Red Beard the Pirate is super! My 13 year old daughter has been hanging out with Red Beard since she was 3! I gave a low rating on the condition of our unit even though we pick the same unit every year. The reason we pick our unit is because it is pet friendly and we feel it is in the best location at the resort. With that being said, we put up with a room that hasn't been renovated in years. There is no VCR or DVD player in the place. We pray each year the old TVs will work. The appliances have seen better days. The bathroooms are out of date. We know other units at the resort have been recently remodeled and have much better ammenities. Our family chooses location over room amenities every time so we end up requesting the same unit each year. Perhaps one year the owner of our favorite unit will surprise us with a major overhaul? That is our wish for Santa!! :)

  We've been coming to Palm Island with our family for 26 years--we were among the first guests when the resort opened in 1984. We lived in Orlando for most of that time; but even when we moved from Florida to Ohio and then Georgia, Palm Island was our place for physical and spiritual renewal. Our boys started coming when they were 7 and 10, respectively; it is still their favorite place in the world to go--and they've both traveled the world. Now they bring their boys who are 6 and 4; and they love it as much as their dads did and do. Thanks for being a great sanctuary for our family!

  We love Palm Island. It is very relaxing and perfect for our family. We have 4 children under the age of 8 and it works great for us. The children can run around and it is a very safe enviorment. My only negative comment is that some of the units could use a little updating with amenities, furniture and bedding. The are starting to look weathered.

  We had a great week at the island. Our bathroom was not that clean. the rugs had not been changed, under the toilet there was urine (we sprayed with lysol) I do not think the bathroom had been mopped. Everything else was great. You have wonderful employees in the reception office. They are the best. We will definitely be back next year.

  We love our yearly vacations at Palm Island Resort. The grounds are very well maintained. We stay in a certain unit each year. We choose the unit for its location. The inside furniture and appliances are not new by any means, but we overlook that flaw because of the other amenities the unit offers; close to the pool, close to the beach, etc. If you ask my daughter, the best part of Palm Island Resort is Red Beard, the Pirate. If you don't know about Red Beard and you have children, you should book a stay at Palm Island Resort now. Words cannot describe the fun experience Red Beard brings!! Forgot to say... you are car ferried to the Island. Once you are there, a trip to the mainland seems to be a big deal. Our advice, bring everything you need on your first trip over (I mean everything including food, medecine, sun lotion, kitchen sink (lol), etc... Then just enjoy the experience.

• The unit was worn and has never been updated. Our view was of a building under construction with tape and temp. boards on the balcony. Siding had been removed so Tyvek was blowing from the breeze. There were many nails on the grounds.

  Overall we love Palm Island. The grounds looked beautiful and manicured. It is unfortunate that I asked for the unit next to the pool. We stayed in that unit about 10 years ago and not much has changed. I never imagined that my view would include construction. We will be returning this summer and hopefully we will have a more beautiful view from our unit.
